Networking, Mentoring, and Education for Consultants and Solo Professionals
Summer is the time for play, and sometimes even consultants just want to have fun. And so for SPC’s annual summer barbecue, we’re going to talk about our favorite tech toys.
What new or maybe even not-so-new devices, accessories, programs, apps, or just plain tricks make life as a consultant easier, more manageable, or more fun? After all, when you’re a consultant, you have to be your own IT department, and that can be tough at times. On the other hand, if you’re on your own, and you’ve been longing for a new smartphone or tablet computer, you don’t have to wait for the people over in Purchasing to sign off before you get your hands on it.
Our panel of knowledgeable tech experts will speak from their own and their clients’ experiences on what technology has worked well for them. And they may have tips about what’s in the pipeline. But this will be an interactive session. You’ll have lots of opportunity to show off your own favorite gadgets and admire other people’s. And if you’ve got questions, you’ll find answers, from our panelists as well as members and guests. Others who have “been there” where you are will be able to show and tell how they’ve “done that.”
This is a topic we’ve offered before but it’s been a few years, and we all know how quickly technology changes.
Have Skype and PayPal opened the door for you to serve international clients? Do you have an app that lets you send invoices from your phone? Have e-book applications lightened your briefcase on the road? Or have you found a tablet a good “bridge” solution when you don’t want to lug your computer somewhere but need more screen than your phone provides?
Pack up your kit and join us, Monday, August 13. Dress is casual. We will be outside if the weather (hopefully) permits. If not, we will still have a great time, but indoors instead.
